Odessa 2020

Odessa 2020

Ricky goes back to Odessa

March 2020

I have been told to come back to Odessa for my long awaited trial agains the Palladium and my presence was needed. This case was already more than 1 year in the making and I still haven’t received one penny from my stolen money which was over $ 1000. My hopes were really completely lost to getting my money back.

The road back to Ukraine was long as I had to take the buse from Egypt and fly from Israel to Romania. From Romania I took momento Bus to Moldova then hopped on a local bus to Odessa. This was the cheapest way I could get there for under $100 !

At the same time, the Coronoa Virus panic was getting so bad there was no way out of Ukraine. I did find some cool couchsurfers to come to the Odessa beach with me , which was a first time for them to explore naturism.

There are enormous opportunities to dance in Ukraine including nights and festivals.  The Ukrainians seem to love dancing late in the night.

The reason I love Odessa was for its beautiful beaches but were soon to be gone because of continued construction of private property along them which is really sad.

Cyprus 2019

Cyprus 2019

Ricky goes back to Cyprus
Paphos, Limassol, Nicosia, Famagusta

November 2019

The weather was just getting unbearaby cold in Romania so I took a cheap $35 flight right to Cyprus where you can swim and enjoy the scenery. Paphos has unique coastlines filled with volcanic rock and sea caves. Incredible natural scenery.
Dancing in Cyprus :
Omnia – every Friday night . Located old town Paphos
Bossa Nova – every Saturday night – Located 15 min. out of city center by car. Limassol. Great venue, free entrance !
Columbia Beach – every Thursday and Sunday. Nice venue, free entrance with drinks.

If you need any more info just go to facebook group LATIN DANCE FRIENDS CYPRUS. I haven’t danced in Nicosia since I was told it wasm’t recommended. In any case, the level is low in Cyprus, bring a dancing friend to keep you busy all night. Cyprus is a small island and people seem to dance mostly within their group of friends rather than asking outsiders for a dance. Don’t be shy to ask or you will find the night very long ! There are the few people Stevee Church, Maurizio Sergi of Italy and otherss who are really nice, friendly and great to dance with that I have met on my journey. I thank them for showing me the dance venues and certainly encourage them they are doing a great job of promoting latin dance !

As you can see from the picture Governor’s beach is nothing more than magnificent ! However, getting there is another story , it took me about 3 hours by foot which I would have never done in summer weather. I was very lucky to get a friendly cypriot who droe me right down to the beach area. Once I arrived I couldn,t resist to take the clothes off and start diving and swimming ! Be aware that nude swimming is ”illegal” in Cyprus , but only if someone makes a complaint so try to stay discreet and swim with not too many people around.

I was in Limassol for the end of my stay in Cyprus and I couldn’t resist to bathe naked in the wonderful area called Dasoudi Beach. They have a wonderful natural park with enough trees to keep your privacy along the beach. Don’t forget nudity is illegal in Cyrpus so always keep a suit close by if passers by might snitch and make a complaint. I even had a Cypriot give me the fist if ever he saw me nude. BE CAREFUL.

Pissouri Beach is the only beach which is permitted nudity but you need transporation to get there. I was lucky enough to get invited but they never sent me the pictures ! Its a nice beach but very small……Dasoudi is MUCH better and access to restaurants and cafés.

Ricky goes to Kos 2019

Ricky goes to Kos 2019

Ricky goes to Kos
October 2019

Kos was the perfect choice to visit after my long stay in Turkey. It was only a ferry ride away from the city of Bodrum. There was also a bachata festival which I really wanted to attend but to my surprise the events in Ukraine forced me to shorten my stay.

Watch my VIDEOS HERE !

Nothing short of paradise ! A beautiful natural beach 30 minutes by car from the city of Keflosa ! It is also a nudist beach so everthing is permitted. I made the challenge to walk although it takes 3 hours and I killed my feet

Kos Latin Dance Project – A latin dance organizer on the island of Kos. There are 2 cities that she has students with latin nights. You can also dance at a bar called Uniq every Friday night.

Kos is a Greek island and nudity on beaches is acceptable everywhere but not tolerated if there are families or children.  There are several designated beaches or if you find yourself with few people can take the chance to take your clothes off.

Ricky goes to Turkey 2019

Ricky goes to Turkey 2019

Ricky goes to Turkey
Istanbul , Antalya, Fethyie

July-September 2019

After 24 hours in Albania I couldn’t stand the smell or the attitude of the people there. I immediately took a bus that took me to Athens thereafter headed to Istanbul , Turkey !
My first night in Istanbul was amazing and had a beautiful bachata night at a known hangout called the 360 which is located on the 7th floor of a historical building in the heart of downtown.

Bachata Nights at 360 – A popular restaurant spot with terrace view of the the city on Wednesday nights. The night usually start late about 11 pm and ends at 1 am. It is worth just to go and see the beautiful view from the top !

Gran Pera – The most popular spot for latin dancing in Istanbul Fridays and Saturdays. There is a terrace view on the 6th floor which is attractive and nice view.
You can also choose your favorite room : Salsa , bachata or kizomba ! Although Kizomba has not caught on in Turkey yet….there you will only find 1 or 3 couples dancing.
After a week in Istanbul it was time to move on even though I hadn’t seen the famus historical landmarks everyone was talking about. The city smelled bad, the hostel was small and dirty. The hostel name was PAXX Hostel, I don’t recommend this hostel unless you can put up with moles and dirty washrooms. I had booked a week to regain my strenght as I had not slept in a bed in weeks.
On my way to the bus station there was a huge rain storm of which I was then forced to take a taxi instead of the bus. The bus ride to Antalya was 12 hours ! Upon arriving in Antalya I immediately felt the heat of the sun and nice warm weather. The bus station (otogar) was really far from the downtown core so I had to take a nice modern tram at the cost of $0.56 CAN ! From the downton core I proceeded to walk towards the nearest beach where I could find some internet and a small café to eat.
Antalya is incredibly beautiful with its trees, cliffs and Mediterranean Sea to cool you off from the hot sun. It is too bad that governement has put profit over nature since most beaches there are once again ripped from their natural state to be replaced by stone walkways and small trees that don’t reach 5 feet tall !

Latin Nights at Flamingo Beach – To find any latin night in Antalya you really have to search hard. Salsa, bachata dancing from 10pm to about 1 am. People in Antalya start late and finish early ! Every Wednesday night

Tudors Beach – The most popular spot for latin dancing in Antalya. About 100 or so dancers come for a night of salsa and bachata. No kizomba Again night starts at 10pm and ends 1 am on Friday nights !

Marmara Hotel – Latin dancing in Antalya on Saturday nights.

Naturism in Turkey

Nature & dancing Croatia 2019

Nature & dancing Croatia 2019

Ricky goes to Croatia

Zagreb, Opatija, Pula, Rovinj

June- July 2019

One of my dreams for years was to participate in the Croatian Salsa Festival. I met some great people in Turkey and by a last second decision I found myself a close flight via Bratislova, Slovakia. Upon arriving in Bratislave my computer battery quit functioning and I rushed to find the closest computer repair store with no success. The people were, in my opinion, too preoccupied to help a lonely traveller. With some quick decision making and asking people how to get to the nearest bus station I immediately reserved a direct bus ride to Zagreb , Croatia.
Zagreb was nothing more than disapointing. I quickly took the next bus by FLIXBUS to Opatija where the Salsa Festival was taking place. To my disapointment, I only noticed that people working in this city were out for your money. I decided to get out !
Mošćenička Draga – A small town an hour car ride from Opatija. However, it happended that there was no bus service to transport me to the nearest town so I went by foot. The total distance walked was 14 km ! I was dead and exhausted from extreme heat. There is a small area for nude bathing if you walk a short distance from the city center . It’s amazing !
Be prepared for expensive meals since the businesses here will try to get all the money they can from tourists.
There is no dancing in Pula but the beautiful coastline and nude bathing is worth the trip to this beautiful little paradise
To get to Pula had to reserve an online ticket with a bus company for the price of 8 Euros. Seems like little but that is a big price difference when you compare an average bus ticket is about 2 or 3 Euros anywhere in Turkey.
The ride was well worth it I wanted to see one of the oldest monuments in Roman History still standing , the Pula Coliseum. To my surprise the Foo Fighters were in town to play there.

The road to Rovinj was just a short bus ride away from Pula and I was lucky to meet one of the organizers of the Sea Sun Salsa Festival Yannis. A great dancer and organizer of several salsa festivals.
My budget was quite tight after the events from Ukraine so I had to content myself with only one night of sensual. I was quite disapointed with the level of dancing so I decided to wait one more week for the next festival.
Instead, I explored the wonderful beaches of Rovinj, and boy was I surprised! You have to walk quite a distance though from the small city center to reach the nice beaches. Again, don’t’ be afraid to ”take it off” since croatians are very open to nudity.

Split & Markaska & Biokovo Mountains & Dubrovnik – The time to leave Rovinj was NOW. After an assault incident with a Croatian taxi driver and uncooperative police as well as rude employees at a restaurant I decided to LEAVE this crazy city or country as fast as I could.
I had to change my mind since I almost lost the only useful tool my laptop for working after the crazy taxi driver almost destroyed it.

Turkey 2019

Ricky goes to Turkey
Bodrum, Kusadasi, Pamukalee, Izmir & Selçuk

June 2019

Bodrum – I chose to arrive in this charming city since it was close to my salsa festival. Upon arriving in Turkey I immediately noticed the difficulty to get free wifi where I could get it easily in Canada. If you plan on getting free WIFI be prepared to enter the place of business and pay a small fee to use their services. This includes McDonalds and Burger King.
My stay was in a hostel called Eskici. The price was very cheap and center of downtown. There were no latin nights that I could find but I managed to see some beautiful scenery including the harbour and some ancient roman sites.

Pamukalee – One of the oldest historical sites in the world with millions of tourists every year. Incredible white rocks formed by years of running water from inside the earth. Go see it !
Go to the local bus station anywhere in Turkey and they will take you there for a very good price. From Pamukalee you can take bus directly to town or catch another bus to another city close by such as Istanbul or Izmir.
Izmir – A fairly big city south of Istanbul with 4 million habitants. I stayed at a beautiful hostel called Lotus Garden. This hostel is great and the price icludes free breakfast . There is a garden with chickens and all the food is bio ! Great for vegetarians.
I arrived at 4 AM after a short latin night and had alot of trouble finding the hostel But it was worth it .
There are two well-known latin spots in Izmir Mambo Latino Terrace which holds weekly nights and Born’s Café which is further from downtown. The dancers are really great but there is a small shortage of lady dancers. Arrive early because they start around 8 pm and usually dance till 11:30 pm.

Kuşadası – A small tourist city south of Istanbul with about 50 000 residents. I stayed at a beautiful hostel called Sezgin Hotel. I was looking for a hostel but couldn’t find any but made a deal to get a better price if I stayed the entire week. Usual price starts at 120 TKL per night. There is a pool and free breakfast included. It is located in the heart of the old downtown Kusadasi
